Halloween Hunt
Halloween Hunt is a web-based hidden item game where players search for 8 unique treasures hidden within a graveyard setting. Using a riddle-based clue system, players must decipher hints to locate and dig up the hidden items. The game features procedurally generated treasure placements and clues, ensuring a unique experience with each playthrough. Players can compete for high scores by finding all the treasures as quickly as possible.
What I did
I set out to create a simple, engaging game where players search for hidden treasure within a grid-based play area. Drawing on positive feedback from previous projects, I incorporated a riddle-based clue system to encourage problem-solving and give players a sense of satisfaction when they successfully decipher clues.
I’m particularly pleased with how the design evolved, the game can now procedurally hide treasure and generate its own clues, making each playthrough feel unique and replayable.
If I were to revisit this project, I would expand on the core mechanics by introducing more dynamic elements to the play area. For example, I’d explore shifting maps that evolve between rounds, as if the sands themselves are constantly reshaping the environment.
